This is the Jack who inspired JackBeNimble. Jack was an autistic high school student with Tourette's, ADHD and a passion for history and science.
Jack's educational journey has been challenging - not only for Jack and his family but for his educators as well. Jack is not alone. Too many special education students, their families, and their educators experience the system as working against them, not for them, despite their common goals.
Jack is one student - out of millions whose lives are impacted every day by dedicated teachers, aides, and specialists doing what they can, often in spite of a system which exhausts and limits, rather than energizes and inspires.
JackBeNimble is dedicated to transforming the special education system for all those whose lives it touches - using the power of community, advocacy, and ingenuity.
We believe that special education does not have to be a battleground. We invite you to join us & Jack in reimagining special education so that it works for all - even Beau, Jack's best friend!

Carolyn Calvert-Grimes
My name is Carolyn Calvert-Grimes, and I graduated from Centre College with a French degree this spring. I am passionate about promoting diversity and inclusion within education particularly related to special education. I am working remotely as a fundraising intern this summer for JBN while also working as a Development Associate with Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
Kate Williams
Hi, my name is Kate Williams and as of the summer of 2022, I’m currently a rising senior at Centre College. I originally hail from Alexandria, KY, but moved to Danville to pursue a Data Science major, paired with a Creative Writing minor. (Strange combination, I know!) I feel honored to have the chance to work with JackBeNimble on a project that appeals to all aspects of my career interests, while also forwarding accessible education—which is such a great and important cause!
Lauren Proby
My name is Lauren Proby (she/her) and I am passionate about disability justice. I am a rising sophomore at Spelman College majoring in English on the pre-law track. At Spelman, I am a Social Justice Fellow and a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society and Ethel Waddell Githii Honors Program. My advocacy work has allowed me to be named a 2021 Bank of America Student Leader and a 2022-2023 White House HBCU Scholar, and I look forward to bringing my experiences and passions to JackBeNimble!
